Prior to being packed, all parsnips and turnips are washed, size graded and hydro cooled on state-of-the-art processing lines in R&RW Bartletts’ purpose built, modern packhouse, which is BRC (British Retail Consortium) accredited to the Higher Level Standard and benefits from a continuous investment programme to ensure that the very best equipment is used.

A wide variety of different packaging solutions are available to suit customers’ requirements, ranging from loose vegetables, to pre packs, form or pillow packs, bagged, boxed, over wrapped or punnetted.

Additional produce is sourced, as far as possible, from other local growers offering a wider variety to customers. As soon as vegetables are packed, they remain in a cool chain environment, stored for a very brief period in the fully refrigerated loading facility, prior to being despatched to the customer in Skipper branded packaging or customer’s own branded outers/boxes, via an in house temperature controlled distribution fleet.

Thanks to its location at the very heart of the country’s motorway network, R&RW Bartlett can deliver vegetables to anywhere in the UK on the same day as harvesting, enabling a quick response to changing market conditions.

From the sales and marketing offices a wide range of customers are served including hospitals, schools, prisons, restaurant and pub chains, wholesale markets, caterers and UK supermarkets. Orders and enquiries are dealt with quickly and efficiently by an experienced and helpful team of staff who are able to advise on the best product, packaging and transport solutions to suit customers’ needs.
